Paul discovered something according to his experience that we find nowhere in scripture in such well-developed form.&nbs= p; He realized the matter of sin. This was a discovery a lot bigger than sins (behavior). Paul saw sin as a root, a substance indwelling us. It is sin in this form that produc= es sins as fruit. This may not b= e a very inspiring revelation, but it answers a lot of questions about recurring sins, namely, what produces them, and the spiritual power that deals with t= he source of them. <= o:p>
This section of verses is for those who have been influenced by the law=
of
God; they’ve recognized that it is spiritual and therefore desire to
align themselves upon it so they can be
spiritual. However, this pass=
age is
meaningless for those who refuse to listen to the law of God—that do =
not
believe God’s law is spiritual and do not accept it as a standard.
