in the book of Galatians, we need to study the history of the children of <=

EN'>God appeared to Abram (Abraham), telling him that through his seed, God
would bring forth a race of people through which promises made to Abraham by

r, God
prophesied to Abraham that before this fulfillment, his seed would be ensla=
ved
in a foreign land for 400 years (Gen. 15:12-15).<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>Eventually the descendents of
Abraham were enslaved in <st1:country-region w:st=3D"on"><st1:place w:st=3D=
"on">Egypt</st1:place></st1:country-region>
as prophesied.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>However, by a =
strong
hand, God delivered His people from the bondage of <st1:country-region w:st=
=3D"on"><st1:place
 w:st=3D"on">Egypt</st1:place></st1:country-region> through Moses.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>What a day of rejoicing that was!<=
span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>God&#8217;s people were now free to
follow Him into the good land!<o:p></o:p></span></p>

dren
of <st1:country-region w:st=3D"on"><st1:place w:st=3D"on">Israel</st1:place=

telling them that they would &#8220;indeed obey My voice and keep My
covenant&#8221; and &#8220;be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy
nation.&#8221;<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>But when=
 Moses
set these words before the people, they answered together and said, &#8220;=
All
that Jehovah has spoken we will do.&#8221;<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>This offended God since they
presumed they could do whatever God required, not knowing that they were
totally unable to fulfill His commandments and that they stood in need of H=
is
mercy.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>The atmosphere changed=
 from
something pleasant to a thick cloud, smoke, thunder and lightening (Exo. 1<=
/span><span
style=3D'mso-cyrillic-font-family:"Arial Narrow";mso-default-font-family:"A=
rial Narrow";
mso-greek-font-family:"Arial Narrow";mso-latin-font-family:"Arial Narrow";

EN'>God&#8217;s intention in bringing <st1:country-region w:st=3D"on"><st1:=
place
 w:st=3D"on">Israel</st1:place></st1:country-region> to Sinai was to have a
pleasant fellowship with them, infusing Himself into them through His speak=
ing
to them.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>This was God&#8217;s
desire. However, because of their &#8220;can do&#8221; attitude, it became
necessary for God to give them the law.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nb=
sp;
</span>Why the law? The law was given to reveal God to them and to expose t=
heir
need of Him (Gal. 3:19a; Rom. 3:20; Gal. 3:24).<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>However, most of <st1:country-regi=
on
w:st=3D"on"><st1:place w:st=3D"on">Israel</st1:place></st1:country-region> =
did not
respond in the proper way (1 Cor. 10:1-12).<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Instead of being led to and infuse=
d with
God Himself, they struggled to observe the ordinances of the law with its
requirements. They esteemed the law more valuable than God Himself (John
5:39).<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>They left the line of
Abraham (justification by faith) to cling to the line of Moses (works of la=
w). <o:p></o:p></span></p>

EN'><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal><span lang=3DEN style=3D'font-size:12.0pt;mso-ansi-lan=

EN'>Here&#8217;s the problem; NO ONE can keep the law by their human effort
(Gal. 6:13; Rom. 3:10-12)!<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>To=
 make
this more clear, Jesus set even higher standards for the New Testament
believers (Matt. 5:17-7:29)!<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Because no one can keep the law, </span><u><span style=3D'mso-cyrill=

EN'>Does all this mean that the law is bad?<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Absolutely not!<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Without law, we would be a lawless
people. Paul told Timothy that the law is good (1 Tim. 1:8).<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>The law has its&#8217; place: on t=
he
negative side, to expose our fallen condition and on the positive side to b=
ring
us to Christ (Gal. 3:24).<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Chr=
ist
has fully fulfilled the law (Matt 5:</span><span style=3D'mso-cyrillic-font=

and is now the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45b).<span

lawful people, living according to a new law, the law of the Spirit of life=

style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>By this law, we live the highest l=
ife on
earth and fulfill the law of God completely (Gal. 6:2).<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>By this law, we match God in His
jealousy, holiness, love, righteousness, truthfulness, and purity (Exo.
20:7-17).<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>This law is totally
carried out by and through faith which is the infusing factor, granting us =
an
abundance of Spirit and life to live the glorious life </span><u><span

EN'>How can we apply this word in our pursuing of Christ?<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Today among Christians there are m=
any
practices.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Most practices are=
 for
the practical application of spiritual truths.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Some of these practices are excell=
ent in
helping usher us into the enjoyment of Christ. However, any practice could
easily become law if we become insistent regarding its&#8217; use.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Often, as church history will test=
ify,
such insistences lead to division.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Some precious practices among us are: morning revival, pray-reading,
calling on the name of the Lord, serving, offering, praying, head covering,
prophesying, singing, conferences, trainings and visitation.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>These practices, however precious,
should NEVER be lawful items among us.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbs=
p;
</span>Our &#8220;practices&#8221; are for conducting us to Christ and shou=
ld
never be used as measuring sticks by which we judge or pressure others.<span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Often we carry out these practices
without being brought to Christ.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;
</span>Also, we encourage others to practice them without doing so ourselve=
s.
This is hypocrisy!<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp;&nbsp; </span>Here=
in
lies the real danger of repeating the tragic history of the Old Testament (1
Cor. 10:1-12) and New Testament believers who have gone before us (Rev. 3:1=
7;
2:4).<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>On the other hand, to h=
ave no
practice could lead to Christlessness as well.<span
